The distance I run each morning is decided in the seconds it takes me to tie my shoelaces. I am a get-out-of-bed runner. In other words, I am good to go 10 minutes after I wake each morning. I have had the number 14.2 in my head for the past one week - I had been looking forward to Thursday (today) since the day I left for India. Only a runner understands how hard it is to not run for 2 days in a row, leave alone 12!!!
I was so excited last night that I barely slept. I blame jet lag and the fact that I am a pain in the arse when it comes to running. Anyway, I left at 3:04am for, you guessed it, 14.2 miles. I forgot that this is my longest run in almost a month (since the marathon) and my only run in 12 days! I forgot how hard it is to run 14 something miles. It used to be a walk in the park! After about mile 9, my legs got sore - I admit, I got sore. Eventually 14 for stretched out to 15 because I just love it so much. I am an endorphine junkie - totally!
I wanted 3 hours to myself this morning and I got it.
15 glorious if painful miles in 2.20
20 laps in the freezing water.
She's back!
