Stormy Saturday

When is the last time you actually felt oxygen in your lungs when taking a breath? I felt it today after a long long time. I woke up to very very stormy weather - I have no choice - no matter how formidable it is outdoors, it is much preferred to running like a drone on a treadmill.

My usual shallow, cautious, nervous breaths were replaced by deep breaths that filled my lungs - I felt brave.

The wind literally swept me off my feet - and as usual, I am covered in muck. Oh well, Happy Saturday!

14 very windy miles 120 minutes - very happy with this
2 mile walk to the shops if I manage to leave in the next 30minutes.

My tummy has also returned to its semi-normal state. Thank god!

Friday 20-ish miles.

Battled the elements this morning - a thunderstorm meant I was pelted with branches and all sorts of interesting objects from trees. I still managed to finish but not without some significant windburn on my cheeks - great!! This coupled with being sun-burnt yesterday (I ran at 5pm with no shade), means I look "interesting". Whatever!!

My body has returned to some semblance of what it is. Thank god for that! As a runner, every single extra pound inhibits movement.

Back on the wagon this friday:

1200 sprints on stairs
8 mile run

That is all.

Augustus Gloop!

I finally got my azz out the door for a hot and steamy 4 miles at 5pm today. Blech! The reason for a run this late? Well, I...uh, met a jalebi on my way back home yesterday and just.could.not.say.goodbye. I mean, the dude was frying those babies up right infront of me!

Anyway, one thing led to another and a total binge followed. It is so gross. I have had, among other things, 2 pints of ice cream, thai takeout meant for 4 people at Uni (not kidding), a tin of pringles, a family sized bag of sour cream ruffles, 2 full roasted chooks, a bag of jelly babies, and a bajillion pieces of those tri-color candies that most people outgrew at age 6 - jubies.

I look 6 months pregnant. I weighed in at 52.4 kgs (117lbs)on Wednesday am. I am not touching the scale this week! Its funny though - It tasted good, but waddling through my runs is no fun. I should say though - I tend to do this once a week. I am Aditi and I am a food-o-holic. Most runners are obsessed with food. I eat well 6 out of 7 days. I have a video of a group of women from the Olympic Trials going nuts over cake with frosting - I will put that up sometime this week.

Anyway folks, 4 miles - in an embarrassing time. Atleast I finished it! I cant stop laughing at the sight of my belly!

Wednesday Recovery

Silence, sometimes, is a wonderful thing.

12.3 miles this am. Averaged an 8min/mile.
60 laps in the pool. This equals a 2 mile swim and my longest swim. I would swim more if it didnt make me smell like chlorine for the rest of the day. I look like a shriveled prune - oh well, its all good! The water is also excellent recovery for my legs despite the high mileage - it is the thing I credit for keeping me injury-free.

Swimming also makes me ravenous - what else is new? I had bacon drizzled with maple syrup this am. Seriously, try it!! Drizzle maple syrup on some excellent quality proscuitto and slow roast in the oven (140) for 20mins. *Sigh*, you will thank me.

"Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint." (Isaiah 40:31 NIV)

Today was literally sent from heaven. I havent felt so strong, or more at peace with the world around me in a very long time. Thanks be to God.

A 6 mile recovery turned into a longer run - one of these days I wont feel like running - today, however, was not that day.

9.7 miles - breakdown as follows:
8.2 easy
10 by 60m suicides (these should have been faster, but my legs ran out of steam)
1 mile easy

I realised I was 0.3 short of 10 miles - this is so annoying for the OCD runner in me. Will walk around to make up for it!

Sunday!

What a morning! I was on fire for 2 hours! I bribed myself out of bed with a promise of ice cream for breakfast. It is also super hot (again) and nothing tastes better. Be warned - I eat for perfomance, I have no idea what one would do to lose weight. So if you shudder at the amount of sugar I consume - I suggest you train 12 hours a week!

Here is what was on tap at 5 this morning.
300 double sprints 60 minutes
6 miles @50.

I wore one of my oldest Nike's since I did not have a clean pair - since its just Dad and I for most of this month, the laundry is the first thing to go for a toss. Anyway, they were torn - so (unintentionally) made me feel hardcore!
