I wanted to chew my insides this morning - SO hungry!! I literally ran while my stomach grumbled angrily - I need some fuel!
*Rant over*
9.5 miles 72 minutes
40 stair sprints
30 laps in the pool
*Whew*, off to eat :-)

My quads are a bit sore from my long run yesterday - I think I went too fast, plus sitting in air conditioning for hours at a stretch is never a good thing.
I ran on a treadmill very early this am for various reasons. I still got in a mid-distance run - I am go glad this little roadblock did not disrupt my training. I think I am done with long runs as far as training goes - my legs are where they are supposed to be for the marathon. Now, I just have to *do* it!
14 miles @ 110 minutes on a treadmill. Its my longest run on a treadmill in a long time and I survived!

4weeks to Sundown!
My legs are proving to be very very strong during long runs. They are taking longer to fatigue. I am also beginning to believe that fuel 2-3 days prior to the long run is much more important than the day before. After many days of experimentation - I have decided that my weight should be around 53 kgs (118lbs) on the day of my marathon and this takes into account the fact that I might lose 3-ish kilos during the run. It is the weight at which I perform the best.
I took 2 electrolyte tablets today to keep my weight stable - I have a tendency to lose 5kgs just very easily during a run. I have also been refueling with copious amounts of pretzels dipped in peanut butter. I am exactly a month away from Sundown - yikes!
21 miles @ 155 minutes (2hrs and 35minutes). Average pace 7.30min/mile. Very very happy with this. I have been passing men that should be faster than me.
Anyway, this is my achilles heel where important runs are concerned, so I am glad its out of the way. Ideally, its my last 20-plus run before my marathon. May the tapering (sort of) begin!

Mid week blahs...
If the Lord brings you to it, He will bring you through it.
I need to keep this in mind. We all need to remind ourselves of this from time to time.
I did run yesterday - a 4 mile recovery.
I will do between 4-6 miles today just to loosen up and clear my head. I havent had a decent run in 2 days and it is definately affecting me. I havent taken a day off in forever and with good reason - I am no good without physical activity.
I start tapering for sundown in 10 days or so. I know they advocate a 3 week taper - but I think I'd go mad! I plan to do a 2 week taper maximum. I will do my last back-to-back 36 miles in 2 days at some point this week. After that I will cut mileage by 10 each week for the next 5 weeks.
The marathon is far from my mind at the moment. There are too many things that are fighting for attention.
P.S is anyone actually enjoying the atrocious weather we have had lately!!?

Monday in a rush!
This is yet another quick post. I hate short-cuts! But what can you do? I always have *alot* to say and my head will explode if I dont write it down - but today is not that day. Perhaps when I have it a bit more coherent in my head? Perhaps :-)
I fear speed - I totally fear speed. I am trying to get faster and if one can do it in this awfulness - one can do it anywhere.
Another hot and steamy one - but I was relatively happy with the speed.
3 miles at 10min/mile
4 miles at 7min/mile 28 mins
10 by 60m strides - oooh baby!
2.75 mile 8min/mile
20 laps to cool off - I dont know if this helped - the water was hot!
P.S my ankle is still being a pain in the butt -much like myself :-)

4 mile tempo at 28.47
5 easy
70-ish minutes 9 miles
30 lap swim in the pool.
This would be classified as a recovery Sunday I guess. I have a niggling soreness near my right ankle that goes away after 2 miles. I think its because of the long/fast one yesterday - my legs, however, are quiet springy and dont feel as tight. Hydration and fuel has been optimal. Except I sort of forgot to eat yesterday. I know, SHOCKING!!
